The development of a new biogas plant in Pennsylvania, USA, takes place in conjunction with local producers and contractors. The plant will be built near one of the largest cattle and poultry farms in the US, and will not only address the biggest challenge that animal farms face, i.e. the safe and environmentally sound disposal of manure, but will also make it possible for manure to be processed into organic fertilisers with high added value. The biogas produced is to be refined to biomethane through a process of fermentation and fed into the local natural gas mains. The biogas plant is expected to produce some 3800 m3 of biogas per hour.
